Public Use Area
Dogs are welcome on a leash!

The public use area is located in the northeastern side of the refuge: units 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 16, 17, and 18. Please note that there is a small area in the public use area that is closed to the public (small orange box in upper right corner of map).

You are allowed to wander into the woods even if there are no trails!

There are three boat ramps: at Heron Inlet Road, at the dam north of Machine Gun Road, and on L road (the bridge in that area may flood!).

There is an overlook at Old Chimney Point Road.

There is an overlook (currently broken: do not go on it), a trail, and a kiosk at Big Tree Point.

Snag Hole Point Road has a pavilion with benches.

Public parking that is not on the side of the road are found in all areas listed above.
